About

I’m a computer potato?  Basically I sit in front of a computer all day and mash the keyboard for a living.  Hopefully producing working code for websites.  My fingers get a lot of exercise.  Those sexy bastards are smoking hot.  Of course the rest of my body has gone to crap.

My name is Paul and I am overweight.  I graduated from High School at 150lbs and managed to balloon up to 230 lbs in the intervening years.  A brief stint with Body for Life saw me drop 30 lbs but 6 years and 3 kids later I was back to 230.  I was also having recurring lower back pain and really starting to “feel old.”  I wanted to make a change so that I would never say to my kids “My [fill in the blank] hurts and I don’t feel like playing right now.”  Plus, why would I want other health issues to become a problem? Diabetes, high blood pressure, blah blah blah.

In early 2010 I started slowly by reducing portion sizes and choosing healthier foods on more occasions. After knocking the cobwebs of the elliptical we had purchased during the Body for Life phase, I began using that bad boy 3 days a week.  I lost around 7 lbs with these simple changes.  One morning I woke up and turned on the TV and there was an infomercial for P90X. I guess I was in the right state of mind because Tony Horton managed to convince me that P90X was what I needed to transform my body.

I took the fit test and failed miserably.  Ouch.  So I started by doing P90 after getting the materials for both P90 and P90X from friends.  Six weeks of P90 helped me improve my overall conditioning and lose 14 lbs, putting my total weight at 210.  With 12 weeks until our summer vacation I decided to start P90X and give it the full 90 days before hitting the beach.  Gotta get my Beach Body on.

That’s where it all starts.  Do your best and forget the rest.

Just a Note: I am not a nutritionist, a trainer, or a medical professional.  I’m a regular guy who likes to be informed.  I try to find out a lot of information when I’m involved in something like exercise and good nutrition.  Don’t believe everything you read here.  Do some reading for yourself and either verify it or call me out on it if you think I’m wrong.   We’ll all be better for it.
