It’s Back!
The good and the bad of it. Good: I really got low in the squats and for the first 30 minutes I was pushing it. Bad: really hit a wall later on and was dieing fairly quickly in each exercise. My heart rate was in the zone for most of the time and supposedly I burned 705 calories (based on time, heart rate and weight.) I felt good about it over all. Next time my goal is to really keep myself going for the duration of each set.

New routine with some new exercises. It’s the start of Phase 2. The manual says you have to Bring It in this phase if you want to get BIG. Max reps out at 8-10. Well…it wasn’t hard to do that. After about 500 push-ups we finally got to pick up some weights. By then my arms were already hanging dead from my body so 15 lbs felt like 50. This routine has a LOT of push-ups. Wow. I now miss the pull-up bar. Never thought that would happen.
So this was a very tough one. Felt like I was back at the beginning of the whole thing. Can’t wait for the next time to see if I can bust out a few more reps of everything late into the routine.

So I took the rest day off this week. My wife went ahead and made up a day from earlier in the week and did Core Synergistics. Very proud of her effort. She is bringing it for P90X. I can’t imagine how hard it is after having 3 kids in the last 4 years to then try to do P90X.
This brings us to the end of Phase 1. Phase 2 starts tonight with Chest, Shoulders and Tripceps. Looking forward to bringing it for a new workout. I got up a little early today and did some bonus cardio on our elliptical machine. Amazing how easy it was. 10 weeks ago when I was doing it, I was still struggling. I moved up the resistance and pushed it harder than I was before Power 90 and P90X. Just another reminder of how well P90X is working.

Bleh. What a workout this turned out to be. Started off great with a lot of effort and sweat. Unfortunately, the in-laws came into town and my wife was wiped out. Once she dropped out to talk to them and I hit the end of 45 minutes I let myself off the hook and pushed stop on the DVD. Oh well. I gotta give myself a little break and regroup. One bad night isn’t the end unless I lose motivation and let it derail me further. That’s not happening.

2nd session of Core Synergistics. Really tried to engage the core this time. Maybe I’m just not strong enough in the rest of my muscle groups because there are a few of the exercises that I still don’t feel much of anything in the core. Certainly the push-ups, plank, chatarangu(?) banana/superman, banana rolls, bow/boats all hit the core without really trying. Some of the lunge stuff just doesn’t seem to work anything for me but the legs. Still working up a sweat though. I’ll take it. Feels good and it’s P90X so I’ll keep pushing play and Bring It!
